Hamster Details
Hamsters are rodents, they are crepuscular which means that they are awake at hours of low light. There lifespan is from 1.5 -2 years, sometimes 3.
They have continually growing teeth which means they need chew toys.
Female hamster go through heat every four days and might be crazy or sensitive.
Hamsters may go into torpor
(a state of hibernation) if food supply is low or ther hamster is exposed to extreme temperatures (usually low temps).Torpor is often mistaken for death.
The main killer of hamsters is wet tail disease. A disease caused by stress, mainly in young hamsters. Symptoms include the following: decreased appetite, diarrhea, a bad odor, a wet tail, feces around he tail area, ect.
